What is Instagram's Close Friends List
Before going into the details of this guide and explain yourself how to put close friends on instagram, let me explain in detail what the "Close Friends" list is for and how it might be useful to you.
Instagram's "Closest Friends" list is a feature that allows you to create a shortlist of users to share your Stories with. This feature, available for all accounts and which does not require any activation, can be useful for sharing more intimate and personal content to be made visible only to people with whom you have a closer relationship.
If you are wondering if it is possible to create more than one list dedicated to close friends, I am sorry to tell you that the answer is no. In fact, at the time of writing this guide, only a list is available, in which, however, you can add all the users of your interest without any limitation.
In addition, it will be useful to know that users can neither view your list of closest friends nor send a request to be added or removed from it (except requesting it directly via message on Instagram).
Add users to Instagram's closest friends list
The procedure for add users to the Close Friends list it's quick and easy. All you have to do is log into your profile, select the relevant list and choose the people you want to share your most private Stories with.
Then take your smartphone or tablet, start the Instagram app for Android or iOS and, if you haven't already done so, log in to your account by entering your login details in the fields Phone number, username or email e Password.
Now, tap yours name displayed at the top and, in the menu that appeared at the bottom, press the button Add close friends. Alternatively, tap on thelittle man (or on yours profile picture) present in the menu at the bottom to access your Instagram profile, press the button ≡ (top right) and choose the option Closer friends give the menu to compare.
On the new screen that appears, make sure the tab is selected Suggestions to view the list of users who follow you on Instagram: then press the button Add related to the people of your interest to add them to your list of closest friends. The added user will not receive any notification.
To speed up the operation, you can tap on the item Search, enter the name of the person to add to your list (in the field Search), locate the one you are interested in in the search results (you can also add people who do not follow you) and tap the button Add. Instead, by selecting the option Your list you can view the full list of all people add to the Close Friends list.
It will be useful to know that you can also access the Closest Friends List screen by tapping the button ≡ (to call up the main menu of your profile), by choosing the item Settings and pressing on the option Privacy and security. Then select the item Story options, fai tap sull'opzione Closer friends and, in the new screen that appears, select the option Suggestions to view the list of your followers and add those of your interest to the list, otherwise enter the name of the user of your interest in the field Search and press pulsating Add.
As mentioned above, the friends you add to your list will not receive any notification when they are added but will notice that they are part of your list as soon as you create a story for your closest friends: in fact, the latter will see your Story highlighted in green and, upon opening, the writing will be visible Closer friends indicating that it is aimed at a limited circle of users.
Manage the close friends list
To view the complete list of users who are part of the closest friends, simply access your profile and select the list in question. Therefore, in case of second thoughts, you can manually remove the people who are part of it at any time.
To proceed, access your profile by pressing thelittle man (or on yours profile picture) present in the menu below, tap the button ≡ and access the section Closer friends. Alternatively, tap on yours name (above) and tap the button [number] closest friends.
Now, in the screenshot Close friends list, select the scheda Your list, scroll down until you find the person you want to remove from the list (or write their name in the field Search) and tap the button Remove,, then choose the option end (top right) to save your changes and that's it.
If your intention is to remove several people at the same time, I am sorry to tell you that the only solution available to you is to repeat the procedure I have just indicated for all the users you intend to remove.
Create a story for close friends
After adding the people of your interest to the list of your closest friends, you are ready to create and publish Stories visible only to them. If you are wondering how to do this, you will be glad to know that the procedure is almost identical to creating a Public Story.
To create a Story visible only to your closest friends, start the Instagram app, tap on thelittle man (or on yours profile picture) at the bottom right and, in the new screen displayed, tap on yours profile picture. Now, select the type of Story you want to create by choosing one of the available options (Text, Music, Live, Normal, Boomerang, Super Zoom, HD Portrait etc.) and enter any content of your interest (eg. adhesives, hashtag, mentions, polls, GIF images etc.) by choosing from the options visible at the top. Once the creation of your Story has been completed, to publish it and make it visible only to the people on the Closest Friends list, click on the option Closer friends (l'icona della white star on green background) visible below and that's it. In case your list is still empty, you will see the option on the screen Add friends to the list: click on it and follow the instructions I gave you in the paragraphs dedicated to the creation of the closest friends list.
