Preliminary information
Before we get to the heart of the guide and actually see how to put Touch ID on Instagram, it seems to me necessary to make some necessary clarifications in this regard.
First of all, you must know that, at the time of writing, Instagram does not integrate an ad hoc function through which to protect access to the app with the Touch ID. However, by activating the restrictions of iOS you can achieve a similar result, as you can set a password to protect access to the application.
This also applies to Android but, as I also told you in the introduction, in this case it is not correct to speak of Touch ID, since this is the name of a proprietary technology of Apple. On Android we generally talk about unlocking with the fingerprint. All clear? Well, then I'd say we can proceed.
How to put Touch ID on Instagram for iPhone
Let's get straight to the point and see how to proceed on iOS. As already mentioned, this is currently not possible put Touch ID on Instagram for iPhone (i.e. it is not possible to protect Instagram with your fingerprint), however you can block access to the application with a security code. How? Find everything explained right below.
You can succeed in the operation in question by exploiting the iOS restrictions and more precisely of the function Usage time, available on all iPhones equipped with iOS 12 or later. Thanks to the feature in question, it is possible to block access to certain categories of apps with a code or PIN.
To use this, open the app Settings, by tapping on the gray icon with gears located on the Home screen, go to the item Usage time and press on the wording Enable "Usage Time". Then press the button Continue and tap the button It's my iPhone.
Now, scroll the displayed screen, presses on the item Utilizza codice "Tempo di utilizzo" and choose a four-digit code with which to block access to Instagram (and possibly other apps). After setting the code, tap on the item App limitations, type il code that you have set up earlier and select the wording Aggiungi LIMITATION OF USE.
In the new screen that has opened, expand the menu Social networkby pressing the button > placed in correspondence with the wording in question, and put the check mark in the box Instagram. At this point, press on the item NEXT (top right), set the timer for the Instagram usage limit to 0 pray and 1 min (which is the minimum time allowed) and tap on the item Add (in alto to destra).
To finish the work, start the app of Instagram, wait a minute and the block will be punctually carried out: in this way, access to Instagram will be allowed only if the relative unlock code that you set before is provided. In some circumstances, you may be allowed to use the app for another minute from time to time, but this shouldn't be a huge problem.
In case of second thoughts, you can still retrace your steps and disable the block for Instagram. To do this, go to Settings> Screen Time> App Restrictions> Instagram e fai tap sul pulsating Eliminate limitation. You will of course be asked to enter the security code you set earlier.
Is your iPhone "stuck" on an iOS version prior to 12 and, for this reason, you cannot use the "Screen Time" function? Don't worry, in this case you can block access to Instagram by activating restrictions on the use of apps based on their target age (which for Instagram is 12+).
Go, therefore, to Settings> General> Restrictions, fai tap sull'opzione Enable restriction, indicates the 4-digit PIN you want to use to protect your settings from unauthorized changes and enter it again in the screen that opens.
Pray, select the voice App from the iOS restrictions menu and put the check mark next to the type of app you want to allow use (eg. 4+ e 9+) or press on the item Don't allow apps to hide all third-party applications installed on the "iPhone by" (and not just Instagram).
Again, you can retrace your steps in no time by going to the menu Settings> General> Restrictions and pressing on the option for disable restrictions. You will be asked to enter the security code you set earlier.
How to put Touch ID on Instagram for Android
If you want put Touch ID on Instagram for Android, you can turn to one of the many apps that allow you to block access to applications with a code, for example Norton App Lock, developed by the creators of Norton Antivirus and, therefore, very reliable.
After installing and starting Norton App Lock, then click on the item I agree and start, then up OK and allow the app to be displayed on top of other apps by moving to ON l'interruttore situato in corrispondenza della dicitura Allow viewing on top of other apps.
Back, therefore, in the Norton App Lock screen, press the button Configuration, select the items Other downloaded services> Norton App Lock servicesposta su ON the switch displayed on the screen and press the button OK.
Once this is done, reopen the Norton App Lock screen, tap on the item, Go to passcode (top right), write the code to be used to unblock Instagram (and possibly other apps). Press, therefore, on the item Scegli l'account Google, select the Google account to set up for PIN recovery and tap on the item Continue.
Now, in the new screen that has opened, make sure that the symbol of the is present black padlock closed (top right). Should there be a open padlock, press on it, to activate Norton App Lock protection. Next, tap on the item Instagram And that's it. The lock icon located next to the Instagram app will color with green, indicating that access to the app is blocked by the PIN set before.
If you have second thoughts, you can remove the PIN request by starting Norton App Lock again and, after providing the unlock code, press again on the item Instagram to color by Grey the padlock located in correspondence of the latter. Did you see it wasn't that hard?
