Put on face filters via the Instagram app
If your intent is to put face filters on instagram you can first do it through the application of the photographic social network available for Android, iOS and Windows 10. In the following lines I will explain in detail how to proceed.
Give smartphone and tablet
If you have already downloaded the Instagram app on your Android device or on your iPhone, start it, log in with your account data and then, using the social network home screen (the one with the symbol of a cottage), click on the icon camera which you can see above.
Face filters are only available in Instagram stories, therefore, to use them, you must start the appropriate tool accessible by pressing on your profile picture, top left. Doing this will launch your device's camera.
Now choose the type of content you want to create by pressing on one of the items located in the bar below. Face filters are available in the modes Live, Normale, Boomerang, Rewind e Without holding down. If you are not familiar with how the aforementioned methods work or you have any doubts about it, read my tutorial in which I explain how to use Instagram stories.
Once you have chosen the method of making a video or the one dedicated to taking a photo, press the button with the symbol of two concentric arrows, so you can select the front or rear camera. Then also adjust the flash by pressing on the symbol of lightning and finally, activate the face filters by pressing the button with the symbol of a smiley.
This will open a menu, at the bottom, through which and you can scroll through the various filters available by swiping left or right. To select a filter and test it in real time, tap on it. Once you have identified the filter of your interest, start recording a video by holding down the button with the symbol of theshutter; alternatively, tap on it to take a photo with the filter applied.
When you have finished creating a multimedia content, click on the button The tua storia to share the movie or photo in Instagram stories. Alternatively, press on the voice Send to, if you want to send the content created only to some specific users, then pressing the button Send, in correspondence with a name on the screen or one identified through the internal search engine.
If, on the other hand, you want to save the content created in the default multimedia gallery of your device, in order to upload it as an image on Instagram, press the button with the symbol of down arrow.
From computer
If you prefer to act as a computer, you can use the application of Instagram for Windows 10. Also this allows, in fact, to take a photo or record a video by applying the facial filters available on the social network.
To do this, start the application of Instagram previously downloaded from the Microsoft Store, log in with your credentials and click on the icon cottage. In the screen that is open, press the icon with the symbol of a camera, to open your computer's webcam and, consequently, the Instagram story creation tool. Alternatively, you can also succeed through the section of your profile (the one with the symbol of a little man), pressing on yours profile picture.
If you encounter problems opening the story creation tool, make sure you have correctly granted permissions for the camera and microphone, through the procedure indicated in my tutorial dedicated to activating Instagram stories.
Once this tool is launched, you can take a photo or record a video using face filters. Before activating them, however, you must choose which mode to use, by pressing on one of the available items (Normal, Boomerang, Rewind, Without holding), and adjust the flash by pressing the icon with the symbol of a lightning.
Once this is done, activate the filters by pressing on the symbol of a smiley and then click on one of those shown on the screen, in order to scroll the menu bar and find the one you are interested in. To apply a filter and see the result in real time on your face, click on it.
Once you have chosen the desired filter, take a photo or record a video: in the first case, you have to press on pulsating dell'otturatore. In the second, however, you have to hold it down. Once you are done shooting or recording, to send the photo or video in your Instagram Stories, press the button Send to and click your bottone Share at the item The tua storia. Alternatively, via the menu suggested, send the story to a specific user by pressing the button Send, in correspondence with his name.
If you are not interested in sharing the content created. you can save it on your computer, within the app Gallery Windows 10: to do this, press the button Save you see on the screen.
App to put facial filters on Instagram
If Instagram face filters don't seem good enough to you, you can take advantage of third-party applications, such as MSQRD, app for Android and iOS that has numerous filters and special effects in real time and allows you to take a photo or record a video to be uploaded later on Instagram, in stories or posts. Below I will tell you in detail how to use it and what are other similar apps suitable for the purpose.
MSQRD (Android/iOS)
If you intend to use a third-party app to put face filters on Instagram I recommend that you download via the Play Store of Android or the App Store of iOS the free app MSQRD which is characterized by the wide availability of filters and facial effects applicable in real time.
The operation of the app is the same on both operating systems, therefore, once downloaded through the default store of your device (refer to my guide where I explain how to download the apps, if you don't know how to do this operation) start it, consent to the requests that are shown on the screen to grant the app permissions to use the camera and microphone, then press the button Accedi con Facebook, if you want to register, or tap on the item Use MSQRD without logging in, if you want to start using it right away.
Once this is done, you will find yourself directly on the main screen of the app. Then select the mode for taking a photo or the one for recording a video, by pressing the button with the camera symbol or of video camera; choose between front or rear camera by pressing the icon of two darts, and then scroll through the filter menu to view those in the category favorite.
If you want, instead, to see what are all the filters available in the application, tap on the catalog item and then press on one of the category items such as Movies o Animals. Once the photo or video has been taken, press the button with the symbol of Instagram, then choose whether to share the content created in the history or in feed, pressing on one of the items on the screen.
Other apps for facial filters
